Chemical formula: NaOH
Chemical name: Caustic soda; Sodium hydroxide; Sodium hydroxide; Caustic soda water, Liquid caustic soda
Origin: Vietnam
Concentration: 10; 20; 32; 45; 50%
Density: 1-1.5 kg/liter
Specification: Can/drum/tank/tank truck
Physical properties:
Caustic soda – also known as liquid lye has many forms. Liquid lye – NaOH is a chemical that is easily soluble in water, alcohol and glycerin. But it is insoluble in ether and other non-polar solvents.
Similar to the hydration of sulfuric acid, the dissolution of solid sodium hydroxide in water is a highly exothermic reaction, in which a large amount of heat is released.
Chemical properties:
Caustic soda- NaOH 32% – 50% – caustic soda or Sodium hydroxide. Reacts with protonated acids to produce water and corresponding salts. For example, when NaOH reacts with hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride is formed:
NaOH (aq) + HCl (aq) → NaCl (aq) + H2O (l)
In general, such a neutralization reaction is represented by a simple net ionic equation:
OH-(aq) + H + (aq) → H2O (l)
Because this is a type of reaction with strong acids that generates heat. Such acid reactions can also be used for titrations (volume analysis). However, NaOH is not used as a standard. This is because it is hygroscopic and absorbs carbon dioxide from the air.
Applications of Liquid NaOH
– Wastewater treatment: Helps adjust pH and regenerate resin during ion exchange. In addition, Liquid Caustic Soda – NaOH 32% – 50% is also used to neutralize and descale water supply pipes.
– Paper production: Liquid caustic soda is used as a chemical to treat wood, bamboo, and rattan. Or as a raw material for paper production based on the Sulphate and Soda method.
– Production of silk fibers: Liquid NaOH is used to decompose lignin. Harmful substances often accompany cellulose in wood pulp.
Used in the production of cleaning detergents: Liquid caustic soda – NaOH 32% – 50% is used to hydrolyze fats in animal and vegetable oils to produce soaps and detergents.
– Applications in chemicals and pharmaceuticals: Liquid caustic soda – NaOH 32% – 50% is used to produce or sell products containing Sodium radicals such as Sodium phenolate (Aspirin production), Sodium hypochlorite (Javen) as bleach, disinfectant, etc.
– Textile and dyeing production: Used to decompose pectins and waxes in the raw fabric processing stage, making the fabric more shiny and quickly absorbing color for dyed fabrics.
